You also might want to bring your bathing suit because there is a hot springs balneario on the same road as the petroglyphs .... but off to the right. Here's our directions

The spring of the balneario was part of what fed that lake. The tourist office in La Huerta also has a web page and info on the 'lost civialization and lake' Altilte

We just drove down highway 80 from Chapala and noticed water in the valley for the first time in 10 years that I've gone that way
