China is indeed the world's largest emitter of carbon now (21.5%). The US is not far behind (20%). Canada is number 8 at 1.9%. Mexico is number 12 at 1.6%.

Cheap oil meant things could be shipped far from where they are consumed. Expensive oil is coming, and will mean things must be consumed closer to where they are made or grown.
