I received this email in response to my inquiries re the old abandoned Hotel Bahia Tenacatita. With his permission, I post it here: "I don't have an accurate history of the Hotel Bahia de Tenacatita but here's what I remember. I was camping on the Boca beach in Feb-Mar 1974 when the construction began. I especially remember the next winter when they were dredging the beach to fill in the swamp behind the hotel and ruined the most perfect body surfing beach on this part of the coast. The hotel was first open for the winter of 75. I had the unfortunate experience of staying there with a spoiled girl friend in 79. I still have a hotel towel that I took for a souvenir. The hotel was starting to fall apart by then - doors warping and plumbing and electrical corroding. After that, I've only heard rumors of it's demise. When the hotel was being built, the rumor was that former Pres Luis Escheverria was among the major investors. In 1974, La M was just a small fishing village with a few brick buildings but mostly palapas. The highway had been open for a couple of years and growth and tourists like me were on the way so things changed quite quickly after that". Good luck with your research.
