i have had my insen card about 18 years and have been told it is no longer available to gringos. the dif thingy may be the same thing under a new name. i show my insen card everywhere,even some restaurants and hotels honour it. you never know who does/not i.e., the farmacia across from the Melaque plaza boosts its prices (on average)by about 100 pesos over the legal price and DOESNOT honour insen. yes, silver, i do stay at that hotel in barra to catch the morning bus. nice place, nice people, nice start to a journey.
i would not go primer plus as they go through the mountains, IMHO the way they drive that road is not safe. they throw the bus out of gear on long downslopes to save gas. ETN goes the toll road.
