Thanks Paul. How about a primer on madre/padre? Some things I notice: My Mexican friends never fail to refer to my dad (who is the patrón of this operation -- though seldon seen) as "su papa." They always refer to him in the diminutive "su papa," rather than the more formal "su padre." I occassionally use "muy padre" to mean "very cool." It does not seem to mean that very much. I think I have read that if something is "madre" it is "not very good." An inferior item might be described as "poquito madre," or something. What is the real "skinny" on using madre and padre, both as descriptors for parents, and as slang? |
