Hola Esmitty. Those are difficult words, because Madre has MANY meanings and Padre just a few. The good news is that mexicans would will use only two or three of them: Padre We use it only for priests or old fashioned writing. To call our dads, we say papá as a formal way. The diminutive is "papi" and "apá" (very common). "Muy padre" means cool, but only on TV or big cities. In la Manzanilla and surroundings is better "Muy chido" _____________________________________________ Madre We call a nun "madre" and also for too formal writing, like "Día de la madre".
