Since 2003, LCEF has served 500 youth and 140 adults (roughly 50% of La Manzanilla’s population) through free/subsidized educational and professional development programs. To date, 22 programs have been offered to the community. 130 to 240 youth annually have received weekly English classes with native English speaking volunteers in the local schools for 8 consecutive years. Manage scholarship program for 7 youth attending high school in Jalisco and 1 university student studying law at University of Londres (Queretaro Campus). Recent Accomplishments: Constructed first classroom for the Costa Alegre Educational Center project (2008) where local kids attend after school art, English, dance and literacy classes & adults take English classes; featured in Guadalajara Reporter for innovative initiatives (2004-present); honored by Jalisco’s Secretary of Education (2003-present); awarded fiscal sponsorship and partnering with Seattle-based non-profit, Teachers Without Borders (www.teacherswithoutborders.org) (2009-present). http://www.lacatalinafoundation.com
