I have 10 Medline reachers to loan out for the cause. They cost me around $22/each in the U.S. and I would need a $300 deposit if you one to use one. The deposit arrangement may be for the afternoon, or longer if you want to continue the cause thereafter.

The reachers work really well for picking up litter, reducing bending and contact with garbage. The reacher works best if you carry a cleaning pail with a handle to collect garbage, and a medium-size plastic bag with handles to collect recyclable material (plastic and aluminum) separately. Your pail and bag can be offloaded when full. In my 2-3 hour forays on the beach and streets of La Manz, I typically collect 3 buckets of trash and 1-2 bags of recyclables (plastic is more dominant than aluminum, because aluminum has value).

If you want to borrow one of my reachers, I will have them available at the meeting spot on the day of the cleanup. You'd need to supply your own bucket and plastic bag.

For people that do beach and arroyo patrol (as opposed to street patrol), I highly recommend some ZZZap insect repellent on your ankles and calves, because sand fleas can be bothersome in the zone where litter accumulates. The Farmacia near the jardin sells it, and it's non-toxic. Good stuff.

The reacher is viewable at http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10051&productId=100642708&langId=-1&catalogId=10053&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=100642708&cm_mmc=shopping-_-googlebase-_-D29X-_-100642708.
