| Sunday's film at Casa Milpa is "The Cats of Mirikitani", a documentary about Jimmy Mirikitani, a feisty painter who lives on the street near the World Trade Center. After 9/11 devastates the neighborhood, film editor Linda Hattendorf persuades Jimmy to live with her while she seeks a permanent home for him. While delving into California-born, Japan-raised Jimmy's unique life, she discovers his resilient personality which deteremines his two main subjects, cats and internment camps, and films his remarkable journey. The film begins at 7 PM upstairs in the palapa at Nansee and Richard's house, 75 Boca del Rio. |
