Boats taking people out to see whales in Hawaii became a huge problem. There are now laws in effect that require boats to stay a certain amount of feet away from the whales, with motors off. Nursing mother whales were especially affected by all the noise and commotion - the lack of activity here is probably one of the reasons whales stay in this bay most of the winter. With eco-friendly guidelines it would be a wonderful thing for tourists to experience but there are always consequences to our interaction with nature. Just a thought. I'd be interested to hear Kayak Dave's thoughts on the subject.
