We brought Vini home today after following his harrowing life on the streets for about two months. He has been followed by us but especially by Lupe of Kenny Burgers, who today sneaked in a bath, haircut and some medication before delivering him to us as a "take it or leave it" proposition (Arleen tried taking him with Lupe to the Vet yesterday but they couldn't find the street-wise dog). The medication is for all the wounds from other dogs attacking him. He has been traumatized, after being abandoned by gringos in Boca, then by gringos in La Manz. He will be a project, at least for a while, but he has a good disposition. He went for the offered bed outdoors on the second invite. He ate real dog food tonight, twice, with gusto. He had been living on French fries. Vini, his name, has nothing to do with Spanish, but it is pronounced Beanie, as in Cecil and.... Wish him luck in his third chance at a life of trust and love. We hope to teach him to love the bay as well. I think he saw it for the first time with us today. Ojala que pase bien. |
