The proposed migration cards will replace the FM-2 (Immigrant) and FM-3 (Business and Technical) passport-like booklets which are currently issued at Mexican consular posts. Mexican consular posts will no longer issue these booklets. Instead, once an immigration petition is approved by NMI, the Mexican consular post will endorse an entry visa in the foreign national’s passport. These entry visas will allow the foreign national to enter Mexico within one year of issuance. Upon entry into Mexico, the foreign national will be required to obtain the new migration card within 30 days http://gibneyglobal.com/news/read/a1d67abf3638e90e753963e50621f2e3a4904a40 There are going to be a lot of people in that office come December. It will be like everyone renewing their FM3 in the same month. Applications currently being processed and those filed before May 1, 2010 will be analyzed and processed based on current policies, practices and procedures. http://www.yolisto.com/forums/display_topic/id_2450/Changes-in-Mexican-Immigration-Policies-Requirements-and-Regulations-FMM-FM2-FM3/ http://www.sanfelipelife.com/post/Tourist%2C-FM-3-and-FM-2-visa-changes-for-2010 Also the FMM tourist card is said to close a loophole that allowed tourists to exit Mexico, turn right around and re-enter with a new card. The FMM card will limit to 180 the number of days that a tourist can stay in Mexico in a 365 day period. http://www.rversonline.org/10Update.html Here are some excerpts from the meeting held on February 22nd, 2010 in San Miguel de Allende including a Q & A with representatives of Immigration and Hacienda/SAT, with information on the new Immigration Manual. http://www.playamayanews.com/living_in_mexico/new_immigration_laws_for_mexico_and_playa_del_carmen.html Here is a link to the Imigration form Solicitud de Trámite http://www.inm.gob.mx/index.php?page/Solicitud_de_trmite Here are links (in Spanish) to the current versions of the laws and regulations: LGP http://www.ordenjuridico.gob.mx/Federal/Combo/L-151.pdf RGLP http://www.ordenjuridico.gob.mx/Federal/Combo/R-120.pdf For those who don't read Spanish, put the link in this http://translate.google.com/?langpair=es|en# Useful INM Websites: http://www.inm.gob.mx/index.php?page/TRMITES_MIGRATORIOS_PERMANECER http://www.inm.gob.mx/index.php?page/PERMANECER_MXICO_CAMBIO_DE_RESIDENCIA_PERM http://www.inm.gob.mx/index.php?page/PERMANECER_MXICO_OBTENER_EXPEDICION_FMS http://www.inm.gob.mx/index.php?page/PERMANECER_MXICO_OBTENER_AVISOS_DE_CAMBIOS |
