Little Media Coverage on Hijackings because......

I believe the reason you didn't see news of our La Manzanilla friends hijacking, is for four reasons.
1)Our friends from La Manzanilla didn't go to the news as they were in shock and were under the impression the consulate was going to take care of alerting the public and local animal groups in Mazatlan about the missing 3 dogs, etc. Because of this much valuable time has been lost. We would have very much appreciated newspaper coverage
2) It is a tough job for journalists up there in narco-land. If you publicize narco activities, they target the reporter!
3) Mazatlan doesn't really want to publicize this as they are in bad economic times. Note both of these carjackings took place in the morning which is very different than at night when we know we shouldn't be on the roads.
4) A lot of people don't want to know and are in denial until it happens to them. They think there is a hidden political agenda as a result of Arizona's new law.
The news I posted of the hijacking of a Mexican's truck on April 30 was in El Sol, Mazatlan's newspaper.
