We were in Manzanillo today and stopped by Banorte. The (I think) manager said that no dollars would be accepted this year -- but that they expected it to change again next year. I had been having my social security (US) wired down for free from an old Washington Mutual account that had a free wire transfer service. Chase has now cancelled that privilege but is offering up to three "Rapid Cash" transfers for free from Chase accounts to Banorte. This seemed like a really good alternative for me...until I found out that you have to go into the branch in the states each month you want to authorize the Rapid Cash transfer... I don't know what other peoples' experiences are like with Chase, but mine have been gruesome. I think we should sic Jon on Chase. I can give him e-mail addresses he can use when he has too much tequila... |
