Believe me, I've tried this, an industrial heat gun 2000 watts will not work, it works for heat shrink tubing and loosening silicone putty etc. but it won't weld. The heat is not concentrated enough,,,what you need is a plastic welder that is a heated nozzle about 1/4" that you hook up to air compressor and produce a concentrated stream of air hot enough to melt both the cracked area and the welding rod. Check this out: http://www.harborfreight.com/catalogsearch/result/?category=&q=plastic+welding+kit Oh yeah if you can't find a small air-compressor. Now they make em with a blower built in but the ones with a compressed air supply work best. Also in a pinch you can hookup the air hose to one of those little 10 gallon air tanks that you take to the gas station and then fill and rush back to your car to inflate a flat tire. It works too!!! bink |
