Thanks Julie,

Those details are some of the best information yet on the exact circumstances,
seems to be very helpful.

I did a bit of work on looking for a map of crimes in Mexico.

Crime reports is using Google maps, here is one for Huston Texas

Here is one that seems to be up and running in the US and is trying to
expand to Mexico. It say's that the police department has to enter
the information, I don't think that is going to cut it.

Here is a crime reporting website for Mexico City, I signed up but
couldn't seem to get it to find what I was looking for, bit of a learning curve.
It shows the same info as the Local Crime News site which is barely anything.

Google map is being used to show databases of all kinds of information

I did some work on how many car jacking's have taken place.
There are several crime statistic web sites, I need to clarify what
category carjacking is listed under, armed robbery, car theft, extortion?

Wikipedia seems to be a good resource with stats by states and some good
references links

Here is some information most of us have seen before. I wonder if the
carjacking has been reported?

Report the crime -

If you are a victim of a crime while overseas, you should report it immediately to the nearest U.S. consular office and make a report to Mexican authorities.

Victims of crime may also report the crime to the Mexican embassy or nearest Mexican consulate after returning to the United States.

The local equivalent to the “911” emergency line in Mexico is “066”.
