carol, we in germany grew up with shopping nets, you put them into your pocket on the way to the store, no weight, no bulk and they still use them today or a shopping textile bag or basket ( any kind of plastic bag costs, they charge for it !) now maggie tells me that they had those nets here in MX and she thinks they are still around, ie, you should be able to buy them.
