I'm sure you know this already but August in this area can get pretty hot and humid. In addition it's also pretty quiet in the towns and villages. I love this time of year but many restaurants are closed or are on limited schedules...that's just an FYI.

Be ready for rain. The storms can be wild but it's just a different aspect of this wonderful area. It gets very green and the butterflies and crabs come out.

There is a festival in August which gives everyone yet another excuse for fireworks (and to drive all the dogs crazy!).

Last I heard a taxi from ZLO to La Manzanilla was around $60 USD so it maybe a bit more to BdI. Can't answer the question about the cost of a taxi ride to Barra but what I would say is when La Manz walk down to the jardin and get the cell number of one of the local taxi guys and he may give you a deal if you use him for all your outings.

Fishing in Barra...I can only suggest Sea to Sierra
http://www.seatosierra.com/ but I certain there are other fishing excursion folks in Barra.

I'm sure other folks will give you some pointers too.
