If you read further in the comments on the Borderlandbeat website you'll see the some comments by friends of the victims which I'll include at the bottom of this post. He seems to be like most of us on an adventure in Mexico: a bit naive! Now, I would urge anyone planning on driving to read the newspapers of the areas they plan to drive through and don't try to outrun someone who wants your vehicle. My take on it is they don't even want your money or ID.
