I received this info from some friends who have run a human rights project outside Colima for 26 yrs: For the last three months, ugly things have been happening in Colima it is not anymore the safest place in the Mexican Republic snif! I do not think we are like Juarez but we are not used to this level of insecurity. What I have heard is that since Manzanillo is the most important port in Mexico right now, the Mexican cartels are fighting to control this territory. So they are fighting against each other. (Beltran Leyva, Zetas and Cartel del Golfo). And: Yes, over the past couple of years, coke was found in containers with false floors. No paperwork was ever found on who imported the containers, and no one was ever busted. That corruption exists and that drugs pass in Manzanillo has never been at question nor an issue. However according to Anilu, the issue now is which of two competing gangs is going to control the port. With these links: (sorry in Spn) http://www.davanzada.com/noticia.php?id=34570 http://www.cronica.com.mx/nota.php?id_nota=511861 http://elinformadordebc.info/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=4080:matan-a-ocho-sicarios-de-los-beltran-leyva&catid=58oliciaca&Itemid=181 http://www.terra.com.mx/noticias/articulo/758241/Investigan+pactos+de+Beltran+Leyva+con+Los+Zetas.htm The 4th one discusses the fighting between the 3 cartels. |
