| Good to have phone numbers. But if the Federal Police are running from the car hijackers while they are stealing cars, we should know that that is what to expect as far as protection is concerned while traveling the highways. No Angel Verde (unarmed) is going to help you either, for obvious reasons. So in high-risk areas it seems to come down to: 1) the road you are on; 2) the car/pickup/SUV that you are driving; 3) the time of day; 4) cuota vs. libramiento; 5) amount of presence of policia of all ilks; and 6) the luck of the draw. The situation won't stop us from driving NoB, but it will surely create a certain apprehension in the pit of the stomach while in areas of risk, especially while approaching the border. This also has to be doing bad things for tourism to the extent that it is being reported NoB. What a pity! |
