Thanks Mary, A friend just came by to chat, it gave me a chance to verbalize some things. I used the analogy of a civil servant who runs for office because they care about individuals and have a vision of a better world. They then meet lots of different people, some who are just begging to be taken advantage of, some challenge their humanity and compassion with a lack of civility and common courtesy. Yet, because of who they are they do not take advantage of them, or belittle them, they see the person they are capable of being and represent them to the best of their ability. For me the primary motivation behind the message board is free speech and communication, regardless if I agreed or disagreed with the posters point of view. Being able to keep the glitches and grievances in a bigger perspective eliminated the stress with dealing with individual situations. It may just be temporary but it is that care and patience for the individual in the interest of the group which seems to have slipped from my being. Without that moderation is not a joy and a passion but just work which produce stress and irritation. I think that another moderator may bring new ideas and guidance to the message board, lets at least check it out and see who is interested. A back up moderator would also be a good thing to have, a way to give someone a break and or take over should illness or accident interrupt the primary's availability. Mod D |
