I hadn't seen that article, Carol, but had posted NOAA's re-evaluation of the 2010 season and their discussion of the emergence of La Nina a few weeks ago. Gracias for the link. It's August 9th and our first real thunderstorm of the season finally popped up last night - that's a first in my experience here - .54/inch of rain in about 20 minutes. I hope it's the first of many during the next two months. It did put an end to what had been a big crowd in the plaza to celebrate the final days of the Feast of the Assumption - fireworks, bottle rockets, dancers, and lots of families enjoying a last vacation before their children go back to school. Not a good thing for the vendors around the plaza last night. That's another element of the tragedy in Tenacatita; it happened during the height of vacation season. Coindence?? |
