More information Here is a website where you can submit suggestions it would be better if they separated it into sections, like how to stop the leak and dealing with the oil that is already onshore. http://www.deepwaterhorizonresponse.com/go/doc/2931/546759/ I sent in a suggestion for getting the leaking oil to the surface to be collected. It is actually worthless because according to the latest information they can't collect all the oil they are recovering now, quite sad. http://www.marketwatch.com/story/bp-eyes-containment-shortfall-on-gulf-well-report-2010-06-07?reflink=MW_news_stmp From the BP web site, here is the LMRP in action http://bp.concerts.com/gom/lmrp6_060310.htm Notice that even after the valves are closed there is still oil going into the water from below the LMRP, meaning the seal is not perfect, meaning the solution, even if it is successful will not totally prevent oil from going into the water. Another process website http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/world/us_and_canada/10232371.stm I believe the original estimates from BP on the number of barrels leaking each day was 1,000, talk about missing the mark, if that is the best they can do then they should not even have a license. The Oil drum message board is one of the better places public information is being exchanged. http://www.theoildrum.com/ I find the format of the board difficult to use. It automatically expands every thread making it very hard to see new responses. It also does not move post with new replies to the top of the board. Perhaps it is just my getting used to their format. There are some features of the board I like, the one which lets you see all of the post a particular person has made on any subject since they joined. Ease of use is critical for message boards. I personally like the La Manzanilla.info format, and the reddit one http://www.reddit.com/r/science/comments/cbfgc/12_live_feeds_from_the_horizon_leak_on_the_gulf/ Onward through the fog. D |
