Anne,yes, their is a difference in salinity, the Med is more salty because of it "trapped" nature, the water evaporates. I just had the extreme pleasure of snorkeling in the Tobago Cays in the Carrib. There it seemed less salty than La Manz is normally, maybe because the next stop is Africa once you cross the barrier reef. There our sailboat was on a buoy provided by the park service. In front of us was a Turtle sanctuary and a tiny island which I swam around every morning. The turtles were amazing to swim with. I would love to swim with you to the rocks when I return in Oct. I do this every other day. I start down by Helga's and have found the ways in and out around the bottom rocks at various tide levels. Would love to have some one to share it with. I usually go out to the rocks and follow them along, then once around the big one. Sometimes when it is calm I go down to Tamarinda. Beautiful fish and more coral in that direction. Say hello to the birds for me.
