Getting it wrong....

After reading all the messages that came in on
off-topic postings, I've decided my communication skills are sadly lacking. This will be my last rant on the subject, but here's what I was trying to say.

1. I have NO desire to limit the amount of subjects posted on the board - I read them all.
What I was trying to express was the desire not to have to sift through the long musings on any particular thread to see if there was some new information on the original subject. I didn't realize how threatening the concept of re-labeling posts was going to be. Jon just sent a wonderful post that referred to the "alright, all-nighters" that made me laugh out loud and, I think, really hit the nail on the head. A sense of humor is a wonderful thing - taking ourselves less seriously would be really helpful in this discussion. Esmitty got it right and so did a lot of other people. I'm not going into the personal privacy/why do you need to know who I am issue because it would take too long and provoke another rant. If you don't want to be identified with what you say, just don't say it.

2. The Existential Musing thing - I thought this
was a moderately funny phrase and used it because
I thought others might enjoy it (wrong!). If I wanted to get my deepest thoughts on the wonders of the universe out to the world (I don't) I would have no problem posting something labeled "sunday night musings" or "thoughts from the beach" or whatever. I'm sure Jane could come up with some clever labels. Mokita's posts are in a whole other realm - magical, poetic and a glimpse into the life of a rare human being. Labels don't matter when Mokita speaks.

I have absolutely nothing else to say on this
subject, will continue to use the message board
to find out about what's happening in the community, and hope that what a lot of people have
expressed will bring about some positive changes.
