There used to be signs and some can still be found here and there. They may have worked or may not. Mostly things have become alot cleaner and many more tourists have picked up after themselves compared to 15 years ago when we first arrived. It is good to keep up on the awareness thing. If you don't know about it at all then you don't even think about it. Garbage cans are a problem as Vicki mentioned. We tried it and within an hour the thing was full and overflowing, whereas if it wasn't there 80% of that garbage would have been put into the dumpster. We took the can away and found it easier to just go and pick up the litter. We personally hire someone to clean the beach and street 3 times a week. The rest of it we do ourselves and just consider it to be our price to pay for living on the beach. Our resentment about garbage is less now except for a few exceptions such as the fecal matter and the diapers, pee paper, etc. Those things we take turns with or flip a coin. the best is to catch someone in the act but that rarely happens. There is a severe shortage of bathrooms for the public.

Mostly i say thankyou to Vicki and all the others that contribute to cleaning up. We should all carry on and not get too upset about all this. The beach for the most part is way better and personally I can't get too upset at tourists about their littering habit because I know that with time it will continue to improve.
