Paper bags will be used instead of plastic bags.

Garbage is personal, so what people do is driven by personal situations and motivations. I practice waste reduction as much as possible, because I don't want tons of trash to be my personal legacy to the planet. So, here's what we do.

We throw kitchen wastes into a bucket, which I empty into a pig slop bucket at Fanny's, usually en route to the beach, because I use the bucket with my grabber to remove litter on the beach. As a result, the indoor garbage can isn't sloppy, and we empty it straight into the garbage can that goes to the curb. The indoor garbage can is lined with a large black plastic bag that is reused until it croaks (maybe 2 bags/year, at most). Often, the garbage truck workers (my heroes) remove garbage from big black plastic bags, because they can fit more garbage into the truck before they have to offload at the dump.

I wash small plastic bags and thus have a stash to draw from when I go to the store for things like bolillos and smaller veggies lie tomatillos and mushrooms. The same could be done for cheese.

In addition, we take tupperware to the bakery in Melaque and when we go to restaurants, so we can bring home leftovers without creating garbage.
