Weather Junkie report......

....I can't believe there are so many of you out
there - Daniel and I used to be alone in our love
of arcane weather info. Good to have you all onboard!

I must confess we were asleep at midnight and didn't get up to zero out the rain gauge for total
accuracy in reporting. Disculpeme. However, we did wake up around 3:30 because the electricity had gone off (again) - no fan, no a/c, very warm. The gauge at that time read 2.19 inches. Even if it continued to rain after midnight, the heaviest rainfall was probably during the height of the storm so we're going to give August 31st the whole tamale. If anyone disagrees, let me know - we can always adjust the numbers. Sooo - August now has a rainfall total of 15.23 inches. Record broken.

Now another confession - that isn't the all time
monthly rainfall record. In July, 2008 we had 15.89 inches of rain; the result of 5 tropical storms in July of that year - 3 of which became hurricanes. None passed very close by but all contributed to the amount of rain that month - much
like Frank just did this month. That will be a
tough record to break because it's so unusual to see that many storms form so early in the season.

Very cool this morning - 81F/27.2C with 70% humidity. The Goes satellite seems to be offline this morning so it's hard to tell what the weather will be like later. If I had to guess, I'd say probably more rain is likely today.

Marcia is right - summer in the jungle is truly awesome and wonderful.
