Lu and I worked together on projects for the last 14 years, part of crews sometimes 10 to 15 men strong. I was the contractor and he the working foreman who was a one- in -the- kind character and a most gifted craftsman. A huge part of our then on-going momentum, and a man that our clients loved. We received numerous thank-you notes after completions of work, always calling attention to Lu's abilities, and their appreciation for his efforts
He was a rare combination of Paul Bunyan and Foghorn Leghorn, with a genuine interest in the people he met. The boys on the crews had affectionate nicknames for him such as " The Lu Cat",or Luzilla, and Big Daddy. He was The Man .Lu was always 15 minutes early each morning , and if by your misfortune you were 14 minutes early, lu would question you as to why you were late and probably bring it up all day long. He could smell fear in a bear, and ride that bears ass all day long too .He was fearsome and respectful all at the same time, and soon you wanted to get with the program because he was a leader. It was lu's way or the Hiway, and things got done lickety-split. He looked out for the client welfare with the best decisions, and they knew it.

We loved him, we were firmly bonded with him, and consider it one of God's gifts that he was the lead part of our company. Only one like him, and when he kicked the bucket, I'm sure he kicked it hard and made alot of noise
