The book is non-fiction by Richard Grant. He crossed the Sierra Madre a few years back. His experiences scared the wits out of me. He finally gives up when he's chased all night by a bunch of drunk gang members like an animal in the jungle. It's all about ruthless gangs, drugs, violence, but also about that mexican characteristic where family is their all-important raison d'etre.
