September went out like a lion!

That was an amazing thunderstorm last night and a
fitting end to a stormy month (but only .30/in. of rain). The new September rainfall record is 15.41 inches - previous record was 13.38 inches in 2003. Yearly total is 41.85 inches, which includes 6.24 inches in February, a month where we usually don't see a drop of rain.

It's always hard to know what October will bring. Average rainfall in October is in the 1 to 3 inch range, but last year we got 6.35 inches, mainly as the result of two storms which stayed offshore long enough to create unsettled weather and lots of moisture - Hurricane Paul and Tropical Storm Norman. If those conditions occur again this year we'll have some rain in October; if not, it's going to be hot, hot, hot! The jungle is trying
to take over and it's doing a good job, especially on the road to Melaque where there are now so many green tunnels where the trees overhang the road and meet in the middle, it's almost too dark to see the potholes. Extremely beautiful though.

Humidity is running in the mid 70's, temps in the high 80's. On Sept. 8th we recorded a high of 100F/38C with 88% humidity. Cooking!!

September stats in a few days.
