Twenty some odd years ago my wife and I found La Manz quite by accident. One o`clock in the morning and unable to drive any further we decided we would pull into first hotel in the first town we could find. Taking the old road in , the first room we got had no window screens, as my wife snored softly, I swatted myself into 3 levels of insanity until daylight. I needed sleep and escape badly. I roused my unscathed sleeping beauty and wandered around the corner, low and behold was the Cazador in all its whitewashed glory where the lord of the manor Chewy , welcomed us with open arms. Thats where Mexican Magic began to transform our lives. Wonderful food , wonderful guests , wonderful host. We had found paradise. We ended up staying 6 weeks , exploring back roads and towns where Tenacatita soon became a favourite. Back then there were local fishermen serving up every kind of seafood you could imagine on a glorious open beach. We couldn`t believe that a place as this.... existed. We never tried to exploit only give support and respect to the local people who were trying so hard to accommodate and befriend us and they never let us down.
Fast forwarding to now; where we see the battle between Golf Course Developers and Private fenced in row housing as the major issues. Who will ultimately own paradise ?
I ask where does the common man fit in all of this? Is there room for the common man ( Mexican/Gringo) to take a family for a visit to paradise ? Who will speak for him , hopefully it will be the Federal Government. Their forefathers showed much wisdom in nationalizing the coasts of Mexico. I watch with hope that justice will prevail for this one beach. Camping & Restaurant shacks are cool , Hotels/Private Homes and Golf Courses in town are cooler still. Hey ! Something for everyone.
Come on Feds ......save this treasure.
