USA DishNet in Mexico - Bad News.....

just an FYI for those of you that had oped (like us) to get DishNet programming back - I received the following e-mail from CP Electronics in Guadalajara today: "The new satellite 61.5 is working, and carrying HD very well in Jalisco. The problem is that recently Dish Network announced it will move practically all HD programming from 61.5 to a different satellite. This other satellite is not receivable in Jalisco. You could get an antenna for 61.5 but within several months you won’t have any programming left on it to watch. Obviously this option is not a good investment for the long term. At this time the only alternative is Starchoice (now Shaw Direct) based out of Canada. www.shawdirect.ca. There is SD and HD programming available. The cost for the system is $630 USD (includes HD receiver, 2 LNB’s, switch, installation – we use your existing dish). We offer activation of your own subscription (you pay them directly on a monthly basis) for a onetime fee of $100 USD. The good news is that Shaw Direct is currently offering a $100 CDN credit for new customers. Something else that is coming up is Directv USA. We are close to doing our first system (within 2 weeks). The main benefit to this system is that there is a lot of HD programming to go along with a very wide base of SD programming. Directv USA also carries a lot of sports packages. The draw back to the DirecTV USA setup is that it is complicated to setup since there are a lot of parts to install to pickup 3 different satellites. The antenna required is 2.4m (8 foot). You pickup 3 satellites with that dish where there are 3 LNB’s mounted to it. Then there are about other 10 parts involved in combining the three feeds into one cable that is connected to a Directv receiver. The cost involved for the antenna, lnb’s, switching parts is $1115 USD including installation. We can sell just that setup. If you want help with a receiver, programming and activation we will be selling Directv HD receivers with 1 year of programming (full package) included for $1500 USD. We realize this is an expensive option but we prefer to offer it since it will meet demanding customer’s needs. If you have questions please contact me and I will get back to you promptly.
