I realize that a message board is not a substitute for face to face communication but I am often put off by the tone of your posts. In fact, you seem to target and attack a select few. Its often people who are exposing the underbelly of the community. This is the attitude of those who look the other way when they see corruption. Is this the essence of Mexico. Its just the way it is and nobody wants it to change. Is that what you are saying?

While I appreciate your attempt at protecting the image of the country you have chosen to call home, bullying is not the solution. Camilla is quite able to communicate herself and I have already read the posts directed at me. I get it. Basically, she said if you don't want it, there is more for me. So be it. Whats your point?

I love La Manzanilla and the friends I have made there. The reason I'm not coming back this year is because I am afraid I would not be able to sit back and enjoy what La Manz has to offer while my neighbors were suffering. Its that simple. As a Canadian activist, it would be dangerous for me. Anything I have said about sewage, potable water or crocodiles was meant to be humorous.

On the other hand...I do not know Mark but I certainly appreciate what he is trying to do. I cannot understand why you would view his efforts so negatively. In fact, when I read your posts, what I see is that Helga often jumps in for the sole purpose of putting people down. Bullies have no credibility, Helga. When someone fights back, a bully either tries to form a gang or she runs and hides. Try standing on your own two feet.

The fact that you have lived there for a long time or that you own a business there does not impress me. It does not give you the authority to be mean and hateful or to be the official spokesperson for anyone. Keep your bitterness to yourself and stay out of the way of those who want to make the world a better place. I think displaced Nationalism is a strange brew and that your sense of superiority is old fashioned.

ta-ta,
Diana
