| My paltry, non-interest-earning Banamex account isn't what I'm concerned about. It is my bank/investment account with a group that has no connections NoB. The solution that all of the for-profit internet companies propose is to expatriate one's capital before the new law kicks in, in about 2 years. That is easier said than done, and one might end up losing in currency conversion and in investment return. There are also potential tax consequences in the new country/currency. Other alternatives, like real estate or owning shares in Canadian dollars in the Royal Canadian Bank pose issues of liquidity. (Of course, I'm speaking only of current holders of US dollars.) To be monitored. New ideas welcomed. |
