| The Santa float was the brainchild of Luis Moreno of la familia Figueroa. The reindeer and sled were designed by Luis Barajas and constructed over the last week by members of the family in the front yard of Armando Figueroa and his wife Maria Elena Castillo. Lots of people in town donated money for the plywood, paint, lights and other materials. At the last minute before their debut, the transformer that was to supply power for the sound system and lights burned out. Pedro Presiado came through with a gas-powered generator, and the show went on. So this almost didn't happen last night. Santa, played in full regalia and with gusto by Gustavo Guzman with the support of his wife Rebeca Figueroa, will return next Thursday, December 23, at 8:30pm starting at the church. |
