I offered kayak wilderness camping trips on the beaches north of LAM back in '84-'94. We cut the first paddling paths in the mangrove all the way back to the back pool which is impassable these days. I was lucking to observe 200-300 nesting cormorants, anhingas, night herons, grey and white herons, cattle egrets, lots of snakes and of course the ever present gators-not as man back then since poaching was the norm. Ahhhhhh the good ole days. Back then the locals didn't even enter the mangroves.

We paddled to Tamarindo beach and paddled another day all the way to Tenacatita and up the Rio Veine river. Back then there were lots of Brown-footed and Blue-footed Boobies and lots of Brown pelicans.

Hope you get see a percentage of what I witnessed year after year through 1994.
