Sometimes there is a place in the options to select using all colors to print black.

The companies who are selling the inexpensive printers are notorious for raping
the public with cheap printers and expensive cartridges. Changing models of printers
constantly so no cartridges are stocked except over the internet from them. Cheaper to
buy an new printer if it breaks and sometimes cheaper than buying new cartridges!

Not to mention the effects on the ecology, both in production and disposal pollution.
In the future this will be looked back on as one of the prominent examples of profit over
sanity that ever existed.
