Also, if you are ever in a pinch as the sun is setting near a populated area, keep an eye out for a NoTell Motel. They are friendly to whatever you might bring in your car. Most have room service, since you really can't leave with your car and return. Some now even have restaurants, signalling an augmentation of the traditional short-term sub rosa clientele. Figure on paying $200 to $350 pesos per night, even including a jacuzzi on request. The lighting in the rooms is usually much better than even in much more expensive "legit" hotels. They always have cable TV, usually tuned to the X-rated channel when you arrive, so be prepared to switch. All in all, one of the best deals for a comfortable night's stay that you can hope to find, plus always dog friendly. Bring a bagette, a chunk of brie and a bottle of wine and have a good evening. (Or is that a bolillo, un pedazo de manchego y una botea de vino?) ¡Qué te vaya bien!
