Another BAEJAC update: Thanks to the generosity of our local folks we've been able to raise enough money to buy two more radios and other much needed equipment. Last friday Noemi and I opened an account at the Caja Popular in La Manzanilla and we deposited over 6700 pesos. This money will go to buy basic supplies and also the two needed radios while Noemi is keeping a record of all purchases. This is an ongoing thing and more donations will be needed in the future. Times are tough down here right now and I'm sure that the local people haven't enough money to fund this service,so we'd better step up to the plate and get it going,it's for everyone's benefit! Having emergency help when we need it is soooo important, so keep the dinero coming in so that these people can do their thing! On another note,the Central de Salud (local clinic) is also in dire need of support. From what I understand after sitting in at at meeting, there are serious shortfalls in funding.La Huerta doesn't seem to be giving enough funds to operate the place in any kind of reasonable way. If you would like to help put the place onto it's feet,all donations would be appreciated,basic repairs are needed right away! There is an account for day to day expenses for BAEJAC,also there is a separate account for the purchase of another emergency vehicle. We have a way to go in order to get a reliable emergency service happening here but I'm sure that with your donations and patience we will do just that.
