Reminder:
On March 3 at 7:30 at Casa Luz, the recently released Canadian documentary film, When the Devil Knocks, will be shown as a fundraiser for El Centro de Salud. Tickets are 100 pesos. The story features the life of Hilary Stanton and her healing from Dissociative Identity Disorder, formerly known as multiple personality. One reviewer wrote the following to the Vancouver director, Helen Slinger:
Helen,
That was a truly wonderful documentary. The therapist was magic, the subject showed so much inner strength and bravery. And your approach was, though as an old editor I can't call anything perfect, as close as is humanly possible. The story could only have the impact it did with the sensitive approach you chose. The use of different faces for her different characters could have been distracting but it wasn't. My wife is in therapy for a variety of family issues, and you have helped de-mystify that process, for me as well as others. By the end we were both in tears.
Thank you so much.
