SCHNITZEL hello carmen Schnitzel is a piece of prepared meat from the german speaking part of europa. it is very similar to a cottelette, a chuleta, but without the bone. now unfortunately there is a fast food chain in the US that calls itself DER Weinerschnitzel which is selling sausages. the grammar is wrong, the spelling is wrong and of course the sausage is wrong, but we can see why some people have the wrong idea about SCHNITZEL. the two most common schnitzels are wiener schnitzel, which sort of implies that originally it comes from WIEN,vienna, capital of austria, and jaeger schnitzel, which means HUNTER schnitzel. the wiener version is a dry , double breaded piece which we serve with moist and lukewarm black forest style potatoe salad and jaeger/hunter is with a thick, super rich red wine - mushroom sauce and puree, whereby the puree soaks up the extra delicious sauce. as you probably know, we had both versions recently, both times a big success with some people absolutely raving about the taste and quality, some connoisseurs saying that this was better than most of the schnitzels in germany and austria, a nice compliment in deed. we are likely doing both versions again before the season is out bon appetite carmen ! |
