After a courageous year of dealing with metastic melanoma, Morgan Fieri (aka Mimi Ferry) made her transition from this earthly plan. She was born on September 27, 1972 in Fortuna, CA and left this world on February 19, 2011. She is survived by her parents Penny and Jim Ferry, son Jules and brother Guy, among others. She has lived, walked the streets and beach of La Manzanilla. I did a swim in her honor. I began at Quinta Valentina's, swam directly out to the open bay, about a kilometer out. I was open, moving freely, one with the waters, being lifted and lowered by each oncoming roll of surging power as the wave sets came toward me. As I swam, I held Morgan and her essence in my spirit. I then turned north to swim directly in front of Guy's property. As I gazed at his land, I turned to approach it directly from the Bay. As I did, I'd stop and dance, lifting my leg from the water, staying there, holding it in full glory of her life here amongst us. I slowly left the waters and walked up to Guy's land--stood there and gazed at the tall palms. Then, I turned again to look at the Sea, aware that her life endures. Morgan, I honor you.
