The 3rd Annual La Manzanilla Cup regatta was not about winning or losing. It was about a bunch of old friends doing what they love to do: sailing, BSing, drinking beer, and ... okay, taking the wind out of 2-time winner Lew Liebowitz's sails.

Times were irrelevant. Six boats crossed the starting gate in a strong, steady wind at noon yesterday. All six were back in a little over an hour. In order of reappearance, they were: Richard; Lew & crew; first-timer John and crew sailing Uncle Tio; Ross; AK Joe and Grant; and Oso and Tom.

The course was the same as previous years: through the gate stationed in front of Don Raul's restaurant, once around the rock over by Blue Bay, across the mouth of the bay to circle a rock near Tamarindo, and back through the gate. The rules were simple: don't hit anything, stay afloat, and have fun.

Mission accomplished!
