Caption: Lew passes the coveted La Manzanilla Cup to Richard, who won the race fair, fast, and single handed on his Laser. The 3rd Annual La Manzanilla Cup regatta was not about winning or losing. It was about a bunch of old friends doing what they love to do: sailing, BSing, drinking beer, and ... okay, taking the wind out of 2-time winner Lew Liebowitz's sails. Times were irrelevant. Six boats crossed the starting gate in a strong, steady wind at noon yesterday. All six were back in a little over an hour. In order of reappearance, they were: Richard; Lew & crew; first-timer John and crew sailing Uncle Tio; Ross; AK Joe and Grant; and Oso and Tom. The course was the same as previous years: through the gate stationed in front of Don Raul's restaurant, once around the rock over by Blue Bay, across the mouth of the bay to circle a rock near Tamarindo, and back through the gate. The rules were simple: don't hit anything, stay afloat, and have fun. Mission accomplished!
