As the "Winner" of this years coveted La Manzanilla Cup I hereby submit my version of the race which, after years of training and mental preparation and against seemingly insurmountable odds, I have WON!!

Race Instructions
To the casual observer the meeting was convivial as the Captains and crews measured the readiness of their competition. The issue of handicaps was discussed. This was not an issue except in the case of our nemesis Lew (the Hobie Cat with the colorful sails). Ideas such as damaging his boat, hurting him physically or making him tow a sea anchor around the course were rejected in favor of requiring him to round one of the marks twice.

The Start
In spite of carefully timing my approach to the windward end of the starting line I crossed two seconds early according to my watch which I had neglected to syncronize with the race watch. My watch was one minute off. This was duly noted at the post race meeting and graciously overlooked.

The Race
My abs were burning on the beat to the windward mark. Everyone was pointing higher and catching up. I need a new sail. Lew zoomed away off the wind. John passed me but I got around the rock first due to my Lasers greater agility and headed to Tamarindo on the reach. My abs were spent and I was pulling away from all but Lew who was going so fast I was sure two times around the mark was not going to be enough handicap. He was so far ahead of me his boat looked like a speck on the water when he rounded the wash rock at Tamarindo. He then appeared to have forgotten his agreement to round twice. He went way, way out and then returned to round a second time. I was DDW heading for the finish. Lew chose to tack downwind.

The Finish
I arrived there FIRST!

Gratitude
To all the participants and planners and officials of this wonderful event and specially to Lew who has by graciously not crossing the finish line before me made me the honored holder of the coveted "La Manzanilla Cup 2011".
Lew is a real man. If he had a feminine side~~ he'd show it.
