Mom and Me Bookmaking

no, Jean, it's not that kind of BOOKMAKING!
I have 2 young Mexican women friends (with an infant and a toddler) and we have started making "look and learn" cloth books for pre-schoolers in Spanish and English. The idea is to produce some hand made book/booklets that will achieve a number of goals:
1. give young women a chance to earn money selling books in the market and maybe in other markets
2. providing a resource for those families who wish to teach their young ones both languages (Note: the best time to learn a second language is before the child is 4!)
3. improve the literacy skills of young moms
4. provide a friendly atmosphere for young moms to socialize with other moms and share some parenting tips and skills
5. provide toddlers with play time with other toddlers
6. provide Mexican children with a "head-start" in literacy
7. give young moms some self-employment that they can work at around the demands of child-rearing.

My problems are:
1. no experience making children's books or bookbinding
2. No habla espanol
3. need materials to make books from that will survive the humidity of summer months without going mouldy.
If you are interested in helping out with this project through donation of fabrics, knowledge or time, please contact Myranda at 351-5177 or email me (see email icon at top of this post). Thanks
