We had the battery die in our POS rental car at Tenacatita late in the afternoon after the parking lot was deserted at Fiesta Mexicana. We were there with another couple, and tried to push the car up the small incline (several times) to compression start it, but with no success. Three young local men came to help and after a bit of Spanglish they left and came back with their truck. I thought, oh good, they have jumper cables, but no, they removed the battery from their truck, and inverted it over ours trying to get the battery posts to align, but with no success. (I was hiding behind the car at this point). They then removed our battery, replaced it with theirs, started the car, and then quickly replaced our battery. It was a simple and innovative solution to the problem. We tried to give them money, but they refused. I have sadness about what has since happened there, and what might of become of them. |
