On my last trip to LaManzanilla I rented a car at the airport and was told the tank was full. Dumb ass me I didn't check it. Half way to LaManzanilla up in the hills on Hwy 2 at 6:30pm Im in the dark and no gas. Gringos heading from the airport just buzzed on by. I'm just about ready to hike the 6 miles back to the Pemex station when the Police pulls up and offers me a ride back to the station. Once there, the owner of the station wanted to sell me a 1 gal jug for $50.00 plus the cost of the fuel. The Cop said no way, he gets the gas free AND the jug. He'll be back to fill up later. He drives me back to my car and we get the thing running again. I offered him money but he turned it down. When he turned his head I tossed $40.00 on the passenger seat. This was better service then the Auto Club. |
