Yes. Scorpions are great at playing possum. They can flatten their bodies out so you would swear they were dead. I live in the mountains near Lake Chapala where we get lots of scorpions, so this is experience speaking. Never pick up a scorpion, no matter how dead an emaciated it looks. Much as I believe in a "catch and release policy," for most insects, I must admit that scorpions are greeted with a swiftly descending shoe. I also spray around the outside of the house every month or two, especially around doors and windows.
